Job Title: Summer Digital Archives Assistant

Organization: Classical Association of the Atlantic States (CAAS)

Location: Remote

Duration: Summer 2026 (Approx. 8–10 weeks; flexible start/end dates)

Hours: Part-time (Approx. 10–15 hours per week)

Compensation: $3000.00

Position Overview

The Classical Association of the Atlantic States (CAAS) is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and tech-savvy Digital Archives Assistant to work directly with its Archivist this summer. The primary focus of this project is to audit, clean up, and systematically restructure our digital files and folders.

This is an excellent opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student in Classics, History, Library/Information Science, or a related field to gain practical experience in digital asset management and institutional archiving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Folder Restructuring: Evaluate existing digital folder structures and implement a standardized, intuitive naming convention and hierarchy for institutional files.
  • File Organization & Migration: Sort, categorize, and migrate legacy digital documents.
  • Metadata & Labeling: Apply consistent metadata tags or file-naming protocols to ensure long-term searchability and retrieval.
  • Documentation: Create a brief, user-friendly digital archiving “style guide” or reference sheet to help CAAS officers maintain the system moving forward.
  • Collaboration: Meet regularly (virtually) with the CAAS Archivist to report progress, resolve ambiguities regarding older files, and refine organizational logic.

Submit letters of interest, along with the email addresses of three references, to Lawrence Kowerski at archivist@caas-cw.org.
