Hesperia Fellow – Extended Deadline: June 3rd, 2019

The Publications Office of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens (ASCSA) seeks a Hesperia Fellow to perform editorial work for Hesperia, the renowned scholarly journal of the ASCSA. Responsibilities include conducting bibliographic research, copyediting, proofreading, and liaising directly with authors, as well as any other relevant tasks as requested by the Editor of Hesperia.

Individuals actively enrolled in a graduate program and individuals with a Masters or Doctorate in the field of Classical archaeology or Classics (within two years of the date of their application) are eligible. Applicants will have excellent writing and communication skills, and a willingness to learn and follow the strict style requirements of the Journal. They will be well organized, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively under the pressure of publication deadlines. The ability to edit onscreen in an electronic workflow is required, as is the ability to have regular electronic contact with the Editor via email and video chat. Experience with Adobe desktop publishing software is preferred. Previous editorial or publishing experience is desired but not necessary.

The Hesperia Fellow reports directly to the Editor of Hesperia and will work remotely. The position follows the academic year and will be 15 hours per week over the fall and spring semesters, with a stipend of $6,000 per semester and a possible option to renew for a second academic year.
