The Philadelphia Classical Society held the 80th Annual Latin Week Awards Luncheon on Saturday, April 6, 2019, in Drexel Hill, PA to laud the efforts of nearly 750 entrants.
Thirty-three teachers of Latin – and Greek – from twenty-six different schools in Metropolitan Philadelphia and New Jersey enrolled their students in various contests.
The contests were announced in November at the annual Fall Professional Day hosted by PCS Latin Week director and CAAS member Jeannette Keshishian and held at The Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr.
Students could select to plan, design, and execute their entries in ten traditional artistry categories and 3-D printing, Latin and English composition in Prose and Poetry, a notepad competition, a T-shirt design contest, and sit for the competitive literature exam.
The submissions in the gallery below were entries from students of the following institutions:
- Baldwin School
- Lower Merion High School
- Merion Mercy Academy
- Radnor High School
- Shipley School
- Upper Dublin High School.
Jason Chang, Latin student of Christopher Ianni of Upper Dublin High School, earned the PCS judges’ decision as « Best of Show » with his precisely-set mosaic based on a hunting scene celebrating the twentieth year of the reign of Antoninus Pius.
