Contributors

We welcome contributions on all aspects of Greek and Roman literature, history, and society; on the classical tradition; on the history of classical scholarship; and on the teaching of Latin, Greek, and classical civilization. We do not think it is necessary to write in one way for teachers in schools and in another for scholars in colleges and universities. Our ideal reader is a scholarly teacher or a teaching scholar. Our ideal contributor has something to say to this reader.

All submissions (regular articles, as well as contributions to Paedagogus and Scholia) should be sent to the Editors. Books for review should be sent to the Reviews Editor (for e-mail addresses, see the Editorial Office).

Authors are requested to send submissions electronically as a PDF, either as an attachment to an e-mail or on diskette; but paper submissions are also acceptable. Since submissions are judged anonymously, authorship and affiliation should be revealed only in an accompanying e-mail or cover letter. Authors of accepted articles are expected to format their final versions in accordance with this style sheet (Acrobat file). They will also be expected to submit their final versions in Word or WordPerfect (either via e-mail or on a diskette). Acceptance of an article is contingent upon the author’s signing a standard publication agreement, and Classical Worldreserves the right to make or require edits for style, clarity, and editorial consistency. Finally, authors of accepted articles should supply an abstract of no more than 100 words, which will be published with their articles and also sent to the American office of L’Année Philologique.
